Clayton Franklin, Attorney at Law

Clayton Franklin joined Smith, Gilliam, Williams & Miles as an associate attorney in 2013.  His principal areas of practice include general civil litigation, business litigation, commercial transactions, OSHA compliance, and real estate law. Mr. Franklin’s practice relates primarily to his work as in-house counsel for Fieldale Farms Corporation. 

Previous to working for Fieldale Farms Corporation and Smith, Gilliam, Williams & Miles, Mr. Franklin worked for Breakfield and Associates. After his first year of law school, Mr. Franklin clerked for Smith, Gilliam, Williams & Miles’ firm.  Following his second year in law school, he then served as clerk to the Honorable Keith Blackwell, who has since been appointed to the Supreme Court of Georgia. Mr. Franklin’s work with Justice Blackwell took place at the Court of Appeals of Georgia. 

Mr. Franklin is active in a variety of community organizations including Habersham United Way where he serves on the Board of Directors and the Young Harris College Young Alumni Council where he serves as Vice-President.  He graduated from Leadership Habersham in 2013, is a member of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, and volunteers his time for the Lake Burton Fun Run. He and his wife reside in Habersham County.
